The owners of this charming home in St Paul for years dreamed of remodeling their kitchen. The scheme derived maximized storage and function in a crisp modern vocabulary rendered in quarter sawn white oak, creating a bridge to the existing spirit of the Victorian area home. A 40 sf addition was placed in the footprint of the existing back porch, utilizing the existing roof structure to seamlessly and economically tie into the exterior of the house. Along with this additional space, the existing mudroom, kitchen and breakfast room were combined to create an open and inviting kitchen and eating area with expansive views to the back yard. A powder room was carefully tucked into the center of the house where it is easily accessible yet private. The mudroom was relocated to make better use of an unconventionally shaped sunroom with a new back stoop to the back yard.
